About Dr. Galloway
Dr. Galloway is an Associate Professor of Urology at the Emory University School of Medicine, Chief of Female Urology and Director of Emory Continence Center.
Dr. Galloway was born and raised in Scotland where he attended medical school at Aberdeen University graduating in 1974. He received his general surgery training and board certification in the United Kingdom and was admitted as a Fellow to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England. Following his surgical training, Dr. Galloway pursued specialization and research in the field of female pelvic surgery and reconstructive surgery at Duke’s University School of Medicine, Durham NC.
In 1988, Dr. Galloway joined the Department of Urology at Emory University School of Medicine and was appointed as the Chief of Urology at Grady Memorial Hospital, a position he served until 1995. With his training, qualifications and expertise that uniquely combine all facets of urological, gynecological and intestinal/colo-rectal pelvic surgery, he was appointed as the Chief of Female Urology to establish a multidisciplinary center for female pelvic urology and reconstructive surgery. Under his leadership, the Emory Continence Center was established and progressed to become a nationally renowned Center of Excellence. Emory Continence Center provides comprehensive evaluation and management for pelvic floor dysfunction including urinary incontinence, organ prolapse, bowel problems and pelvic pain. In addition to standard common urological and related gynecologic conditions, Emory Continence Center serves as the tertiary referral center for all complex incontinence problems, pelvic organ prolapse and reconstructive surgery from urologists in the Atlanta metro area, State of Georgia, neighboring states and nationally. In addition, Dr. Galloway serves as the Director of Transitional Care and Adult Clinical Services of the Center for Spina Bifida Research and Prevention, which was established in 2012.
Dr. Galloway’s clinical and research interests include urinary incontinence, voiding dysfunction, neurogenic bladder dysfunction, neuromodulation, urodynamics, pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic support anatomy. He has lectured both nationally and internationally. He is closely involved in teaching and mentoring medical students, urology residents and post-graduate fellows. He is the author of multiple scientific journal articles and is the recipient of multiple international awards.
