About Dr. Kozarsky

Dr. Kozarsky is certified in Tropical Medicine (1997) and Travel Medicine (2003).

Beyond Dr. Kozarsky's clinical commitment at Emory she also has served as Chair of the Professional Education Committee, as Chair of the ISTM Examination Committee, and most recently as Chair of the Continuous Professional Development Committee.  She also has been active as a key person in the development of an international standard of care and a Body of Knowledge for the clinical practice of travel medicine. This led initially to the development of a Certificate of Knowledge Examination that was first given in 2003 at the biennial ISTM conference. The exam is now given annually and is setting an international standard for the practice of travel medicine.

Dr. Kozarsky has also served as a project director for GeoSentinel, a global network of tropical/travel medicine clinics that monitors the trends in travel related illness and emerging diseases in travelers, immigrants and refugees. In her role she, helped build a network of 55 clinics worldwide and helped to orchestrate global surveillance.  The network has already contributed significantly to the knowledge and literature regarding mobile populations.
