Dr. Lin travels academically teaching laparoscopic and endoscopy techniques. He is involved in ongoing studies in the role of gut hormones in appetite control and diabetes. He pioneered single incision laparoscopic techniques for colon and solid organ surgery.
While Dr. Lin was a young surgeon training in New York City, the field of laparoscopic surgery exploded. He realized that many of the operations performed in the abdomen (liver, stomach, pancreas and colon) may be completed with smaller incisions which speed recovery. He has spent the last decade developing ways to perform these same operations in the least invasive approach as possible. So in some patients who have laparoscopic surgery for advanced colon cancer, chemotherapy can be started within the same month.
