About Dr. Walton

Dr. Walton is a primary care provider at Emory at Saint Joseph's - Primary Care on Peachtree Dunwoody. As a board-certified physician in internal medicine, she helps patients build a healthy and active lifestyle.

A proud native of New Orleans, she headed to Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee for the start of her medical training. After graduating in 2010 from medical school, she completed an internship right here in Atlanta at Morehouse School of Medicine. Dr. Walton continued her training with two residencies - one at Jersey Shore Medical Center and another at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. She was excited to return to the Atlanta area when she began practicing with Emory Healthcare.

A Team Approach to Healthcare

With Dr. Walton, no one travels alone on their journey to better health. She involves family members, offers care with compassion and humility, and reminds patients that she, too, is on the journey with them.

"I walk alongside my patients as, together, we figure out how to manage health concerns and create a healthier, more active lifestyle," she explains. "I may be the doctor, but my patient's voice and input from family members is an important part of guiding and shaping healthcare plans."

She's careful to explain each of those steps and listen to her patients' concerns. "If a patient doesn't like or want to take a medicine, I'll spend time understanding their worries. That way, we can adjust, tailor create a plan that works for their unique health goals."

A Commitment to Health and Fitness

Regular physical activity has been linked to better overall health, including stronger muscles, heart health, better mood and improved mental health. Dr. Walton - as a certified fitness coach - takes the responsibility of helping patients build more active lifestyles seriously.

"Physical activity and fitness is such an important part of everyone's journey to better health," she says. "No matter who you are or what your medical struggles may be, together we can find an exercise and diet plan that's right for you - one that excites you, gets you motivated and, most importantly, one that you stick with to become a lifestyle."

Dr. Walton practices what she preaches. She begins most days with a boot camp session to improve her own health. "I'm a better provider and offer better care because I live what I believe," she says.
