Services & Treatments

Below is a list of services and treatments provided on iste at our Clifton Rd and Midtown locations:

1. Pulmonary Function Testing: Our fully credentialed Respiratory Therapists (RTs) use state-of-the-art equipment to obtain the most accurate pulmonary function data in accordance with current guidelines.

2. Exhaled Nitric Oxide: This testing is useful in the evaluation and management of patients with bronchial asthma.

3. Cardipulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET): Test provides information vital to the evaluation of a patient with shortness of breath of unclear causes. The Clifton Road clinic is one of only a few centers in the greater Atlanta area currently offering CPET testing. The test is typically scheduled by appointment only, and is monitored by an ACLS certified healthcare provider qualified to manage potential complications.

4. Lung imaging: All lung imaging modalities are available on-site, including chest radiography, computerized tomography (CT scanning), PET imaging, MRI, Ultrasound, Pulmonary Angiography and Superdimension protocol CT scanning (please visit our Interventional Pulmonology page).

5. Blood and serological testing: Common blood tests are performed in-house with rapid turn-around-times. Blood and other specimens are frequently collected and sent to specialized laboratories when additional testing is needed, any commercially available lab test can be obtained.

6. Home oxygen evaluation: Oxygen requirement testing is done at all locations, staff are proficient in expediting delivery of home O2 and supplies.

7. Bronchoscopy: Diagnostic bronchoscopy with bronchoalveolar lavage, washings, brushings and/or transbronchial biopsy is performed on site. Advanced bronchoscopic procedures are also performed routinely at Emory University Hospital and Emory U. at Midtown (please see the Interventional Pulmonology clinic page).

8. Thoracentesis: Diagnostic and therapeutic thoracentesis is performed on site for diagnosis and management of effusions and other diseases of the pleura.

9. Other diagnostic studies: Specialized procedures are performed at select locations, such as Right Heart Catheterization (see the Pulmonary Hypertension page), Rhinoscopy, Sleep Studies (see Sleep Center page), Allergy Testing and more.

10. Thoracic Surgery: Often patients will require surgical intervention or biopsy for diagnosis or treatment. We routinely facilitate referral to appropriate thoracic surgical specialists practicing both on-site or outside the Emory system. Chest surgeries are performed at both Emory University Hospital and Emory U. Hospital at Midtown.

11. Specialty medicine referral: Frequently additional medical diagnoses will be uncovered during the pulmonary evaluation process. Pulmonologists are trained in internal medicine, referral to specialists in other fields of medicine is common.
