Interventional Pulmonology

What is Interventional Pulmonology (IP)?

Welcome to the Interventional Pulmonology (IP) Program, a subspecialty clinic within the Emory Advanced Lung Disease Center.

IP is an emerging field in Pulmonary Medicine that has dramatically changed our approach to the diagnosis, staging and treatment of lung cancer, evaluation of pulmonary nodules, diagnosis and treatment of pleural diseases, and therapies for complex airway diseases. The Interventional Pulmonology Program at The Emory Clinic is one of the most comprehensive programs of its kind in the Southeastern United States.

The program was established in 2006 to provide patients with access to the latest, minimally invasive, state-of-the art diagnostic and therapeutic modalities for treating lung and pleural diseases. As one of the first programs in the country, the Emory Interventional Pulmonology program has experienced significant growth since its inception. It consists of several fellowship-trained interventional pulmonologists with the means to provide a full range of interventional services at two of the largest hospitals in Atlanta. We also provide a consultation service to our Veterans from the Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center (http://www.atlanta.va.gov/).
