The Emory Division of Pediatric Radiology is dedicated to helping children by using state-of-the-art diagnostic and interventional radiological techniques to provide early detection of illness and determine the best possible treatment for disease and injury.

Under the direction of Stephen Simoneaux, MD, our highly trained staff works with children and their parents to assure that the special needs of our patients are managed with compassion, as well as with the latest innovations in health care.

Children's imaging services for Emory are performed at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Egleston and Hughes Spalding locations.

Key Procedures

  • Contrast Enema: Examines bowels and colon
  • CT (computed tomography)
  • Bone Density Exam: For children who have been on a growth hormone or prolonged steroid treatment
  • Bone Scan: For musculoskeletal injury or disease
  • MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)
  • Nuclear Cystogram: Examines bladder function
  • Nuclear Renogram: Examines kidney functiond
  • Pyloric Exam: Tests for a condition of the upper intestinal tract in newborns
  • Upper GI Exam: Examines esophagus (tube between mouth and stomach), stomach and duodenum or upper part of small bowel
  • Ultrasound
  • Voiding Cystogram: Examines bladder and/or urethra
