Kristina Parvanta MPA, ATC, LAT, OTCKristina Parvanta

Kristina was born in raised in Winthrop, Maine. She attended the University of Maine, Orono (2003-2007) where she received her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and Physical Education- Athletic Training. Following that, in 2008-2009, she completed a one year internship as a Certified Athletic Trainer at Villanova University working with the women’s volleyball team, women’s lacrosse team, and men’s and women’s tennis team. The next two years were spent earning her Masters degree in Public Administration at Villanova University where she was a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the women’s soccer team and men’s and women’s tennis teams.  Kristina is excited to have the extraordinary opportunity to be at Emory for the next year and looks forward to a new and exciting career as a Physician Extender.

Geanie Butts MA, ATC, LAT, OTCGeanie Butts

Geanie was born in Vienna, Austria and grew up in Budapest, Hungary.  She moved to the U.S. in 2005 to attend the University of Missouri, Columbia where she received her Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology.  She worked as an Athletic Training student intern with Mizzou Football in 2008-2009.  Next she completed her Masters degree in Athletic Training at Saint Louis University in 2009-2011.  During that time she had the opportunity to work with ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida covering soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball and wrestling events.  Geanie is thrilled to be in a new city with this outstanding opportunity to be at Emory and learn from the best.

Jessica Martschinske MA, ATC, LAT, OTCJessica Martschinske

Jessica was born and raised in Camas, Washington.  After graduating Camas High School in 2005, she attended University of Idaho from 2005-2009 where she received her Bachelors of Science in Physical Education-Athletic Training. She also worked as an Athletic Training student intern for an arena football team, the Spokane Shock. Another memorable experience was working at NBC basketball camps for four summers as an Athletic Trainer. The next step in her education was attending the University of Connecticut where she received her Masters in Kinesiology-Exercise Science from 2010-2011.  During those two years she was the head Athletic Trainer at Sport and Medical Sciences Academy and assisted with the development of the Korey Stringer Institute.  Jessica is ecstatic about this upcoming year with furthering her education at Emory in the Physician Extender role.

Chris Thomas MS, ATC, LAT, OTCChris Thomas

Chris was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa.  He attended Slippery Rock University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science.  Following that, he spent a year in Estes Park, CO completing an internship and enjoying the outdoor lifestyle that CO has to offer.  Chris just recently finished his Masters of Science in Athletic Training at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire.  Chris is honored to be a part of such a great fellowship program here at Emory and looks forward to the challenging yet rewarding year to come.

Eric Gunderson MS, ATC, LAT, OTCEric Gunderson

Eric received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia in Exercise and Sports Science. He spent 3 years at the University of Central Florida obtaining a Master’s Degree in Health Administration and working with the baseball team. Eric also had the opportunity to go back to UGA and work with the football team for 3 years. Eric's most recent employment was in the non-traditional athletic training setting for Delta Airlines.  He is very excited about being a part of the Sports Medicine team at Emory and is looking forward to the challenge of the Athletic Training fellowship program.
