Emory Stroke Center Patient Support
A stroke is a very traumatic experience, both physically and emotionally. The road to recovery can be long and hard to navigate, and the patient will need support along the way. In addition, a stroke can be a highly stressful experience for the friends and family of the patient.
The Emory MBNA Stroke Center provides support options, including social workers and contacts for local support groups, for both the patient and the family of the patient.
The following are support networks and organizations dedicated to helping stroke patients:
Stroke Family Support Network
(sponsored by the American Stroke Association)
This is a toll-free information and referral service offering free stroke support information to stroke survivors, caregivers, family members and healthcare professionals. Many stroke support specialists responding to the calls are stroke survivors or caregivers themselves.
