Quality Outcomes

The Kidney-Pancreas Transplant Program at Emory has one of the best transplant survival rates in the nation. Emory’s one-year patient survival rate for kidney/pancreas transplantation was 96.20%, with a graft survival rate of 96.20% for kidney and 91.23% for pancreas.

*Results are based on the cohort of transplants performed 7/1/08 – 12/31/10 (www.srtr.org).

Current research underway at Emory includes identifying methods for improving patient outcomes for pancreas transplant recipients – examining the use of the drug cyclosporine as well as newer drugs such as anti-T-cell agents, novel surgical techniques, and the selection of healthier transplant recipients.
