Patient Letter to Ravi Veeraswamy, MD, and Stephen Konigsberg, PA-C

2/28/2010

As Dr. Veeraswamy's patient, I wish to share my personal experience with anyone who might be interested in considering this procedure. I decided to seek treatment after a year of much lower-leg pain, burning, heaviness and feeling quite miserable while standing due to my veins not functioning properly. Whenever I could, I would pump my feet up and down to get some relief, even while sitting.

An ultrasound in the Emory Vascular Clinic showed I was a candidate for laser treatment. I made four appointments for surgery, anticipating painful procedures with lots of ugliness to follow, but put all that aside for the hope of having my legs feel normal again.

During the surgery, the team made me feel so very comfortable and relaxed. After several picks of Novocain by Steve and a little bit of humor being exchanged, I was quite unaware of the "thin laser fiber wire" he inserted into my vein. Next came the laser itself, controlled by Dr. Veeraswamy, which was over quickly with no pain at all. My leg was then wrapped like a skinny mummy, a thigh high stocking was slipped on and I was on my way home.

For the first two days, my legs were close to pain free, with some bruising, and then during the next few weeks I felt a tightening feeling along with a little soreness. Walking always lessened any problem.

I must say: To anyone suffering from this type of leg pain... Just Do It! And thanks to the team who did the procedure. I suspect most people would see it as too simple to be possible.

Sincerely,
Lucille Cislak

Additional Feedback From Patients of Ravi Veeraswamy, MD

LL: "The EVLT [endovenous laser treatment] procedure has enabled me not only to have a restful night of sleep, but has given me a new walking ability. I had decided that a walking cane or walker was in my future, but the EVLT procedure solved my problem." (12/22/2008)

JNG: "Thank you, vascular surgery team, especially Stephen Konigsberg, PA-C. I am thrilled that I had the ambulatory phlebectomy, as well as the endovenous laser treatment. My leg feels wonderful and it doesn't ache or feel tired anymore. This summer, I will bare my legs for the first time in eight years. Kudos!" (12/1/2008)

Feedback From Patients of Thomas Dodson, MD

MM: "Prior to this procedure I was experiencing occasional deep throbbing pain down the back of my leg, especially after standing still for a few minutes. Since the procedure, that pain is gone. I also had what appeared to be a large cluster of veins on my shin and bulging spider veins, and the area was very warm to the touch and often feverish. These conditions are gone as well." (12/29/2008)

SW: "My experience with the EVLT [endovenous laser treatment] procedure was great. I can tell such a difference in the way my legs both look and feel. The leg cramps that I was experiencing are gone, and so are my ugly varicose veins. I highly recommend this procedure to anyone who is tired of living with varicose veins." (12/15/2008)

CH: "The procedure went exactly as Steve Konigsberg described. After it, I was back at work in two days. There was discomfort and some pain for about three weeks. After that, my leg looked like new again and there is virtually no sign of varicose veins. I would definitely recommend the procedure as well Steve and The Emory Clinic." (12/9/2008)
