The Emory Robotic Surgery Program offers comprehensive and minimally invasive treatments for a range of conditions.
Types of Robotic Surgery
Treatments and Services
Robotic Colon and Rectal Conditions Surgery
Robotic Coronary Bypass Surgery
Robotic-assisted coronary artery bypass (CABG) is minimally invasive and an innovative way to care for patients with coronary artery disease. Coronary artery disease occurs in patients for a variety of reasons and is associated with certain risk factors including smoking, diabetes, advanced age, family history, high cholesterol, hypertension, diet, and others.
Robotic Hernia Surgery
A hiatal hernia occurs when the upper part of the stomach pushes up through the diaphragm and into the chest area. Use the link below to learn more about this condition and learn about the available options.
Robotic Hysterectomy Surgery
Hysterectomy, the removal of the uterus and cervix, is the second most common surgery for women in the United States, following cesarean section. There are many reasons for women to undergo a hysterectomy, including abnormal bleeding, fibroids, uterine prolapse, endometriosis, and cancer. After a hysterectomy, a woman is no longer able to have periods or become pregnant. A robotic hysterectomy is one method of performing this surgery.
Robotic Mitral Valve Surgery
Robotic mitral valve surgery was pioneered at Emory Structural Heart and Valve Center. We have performed more than 2,000 robotic mitral valve surgeries at Emory over the past 15 years, more than anywhere else in the world.
Robotic Prostatectomy Surgery
Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men in the United States. Fortunately, with early detection and proper treatment, survival rates are very high. Your urologist will discuss treatment options with you, including monitoring, radiation therapy, and surgery. If you and your urologist decide that surgery is the best choice, then a minimally invasive option with robotic assistance may be offered.
Robotic Thoracic Surgery
The general thoracic surgeons at Emory are experts in performing minimally invasive procedures using smaller incisions, specialized instruments like the da Vinci robotic surgical system, and other dedicated technologies. More than 75% of the thoracic surgeries at Emory are performed using minimally invasive techniques.
