We are currently NOT enrolling patients for the islet transplant clinical trial. For more information, or to speak with a member of our staff, please contact the Emory Transplant Center Clinical Research Program at 1-855-EMORYTX (366-7989) – toll free number,Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

We will ask you a series of questions related to the candidate's general health and diabetes history. If the candidate meets the screening criteria for inclusion into an islet research protocol, we will send a patient education booklet and application. The candidate should read through the education booklet and send a completed application to the following address:

Emory Transplant Center Clinical Research Program
1364 Clifton Road, NE
Room E426
Atlanta, GA 30322

After we receive the candidate's application we will review it with the islet transplant team. If he or she is a potential candidate for islet transplantation, the next step is a mandatory patient orientation session, in which the candidate will learn about the available islet cell transplant research protocols and will be able to ask questions about the islet transplant process.

Once the candidate has attended patient orientation and signed an informed consent document to participate in an islet transplant research protocol, he or she will begin the islet transplant evaluation process.
