Emergency Medicine at Emory Healthcare

During a medical emergency, treatment decisions often must be made within minutes or even seconds. In these narrow windows of time, prompt and appropriate action can save a life or prevent a lifetime of disability. As providers of this essential “safety net” for our communities, Emory’s Emergency Medicine physicians and staff are dedicated to delivering the best care possible with unparalleled precision and compassion.

Emory’s combined emergency departments see more than 290,000 patients a year in six metro Atlanta emergency departments, including the region’s primary Level 1 trauma center (Grady) and the region’s leading adult and pediatric referral centers (Children's Healthcare of Atlanta).

As part of our ongoing commitment to the development of locally relevant emergency care systems, Emory’s Emergency Medicine Department provides expertise in public health, injury prevention, disaster management, pre-hospital and emergency medical services, toxicology and emergency health system management. As an academic institution, we are also dedicated to making a difference in the safety of our communities and the health of the world at large through extensive training and research programs.
