When you need an organ transplant, you want a team with extensive experience and a record of success. In the Atlanta area, you don’t have to look far. Emory Transplant Center ranks 5th overall among transplant programs across the nation based on 2015 adult transplant volumes, performing 480 transplants. Our experience, coupled with continued quality outcomes and survival rates, makes us a leading transplant destination in the nation, serving patients in Georgia and the Southeast.
Emory Clinic transplant surgeons are also researchers and educators, working to prevent organ failure or rejection and build a better future for those who need an organ transplant. As faculty members of an academic medical center, they can offer access to clinical trials funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and others.
As Georgia's most comprehensive transplant program, Emory Transplant Center has deep experience in:
Heart Transplant. Since its beginning in 1985, our heart transplant program has proven itself a leader in heart transplant and therapies to prevent heart failure.
Islet Transplant. Emory is one of a handful of institutions performing islet transplant as a treatment for type 1 diabetes. Islets are clusters of cells in the pancreas that produce insulin.
Kidney Transplant. Our respected kidney transplant program offers life-saving treatment and follow-up care for end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
Liver Transplant. The first liver transplant performed at Emory was in 1987. Today, Emory's Liver Transplant Program performs more than 150 adult liver transplants each year.
Lung Transplant. Emory offers Georgia’s only dedicated lung transplant program, providing quality patient and graft survival rates.
Pancreas Transplant. Emory has been performing combined kidney and pancreas transplant since 1989.
