Providing an answer where none existed. Creating next-generation treatments.
Emory is proud to be innovators and leaders in national and international clinical trials of new valves, making the latest treatments available to patients in Georgia and the Southeast. In fact, Emory doctors performed the first transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in the Southeast in 2007. Since then, we’ve performed over 2,000 TAVR procedures, more than any other provider in Georgia and the Southeast. While many providers are still delivering care based on first-generation research protocols, our team is paving the way for the newest trials to evaluate TAVR use in low-risk patients, who traditionally required open heart surgery.
