About Dr. Lundberg

Dr. Lundberg is a primary care physician in Decatur. She is board certified in internal medicine and sees adult patients for Emory Healthcare at the primary care clinic on West Ponce de Leon. Dr. Lundberg is a pure generalist with an interest in integrated behavioral health. She helps her patients understand how everyday behaviors and lifestyle choices affect mental health, chronic disease and emotional well being.

Originally from Central Florida, Dr. Lundberg attended the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. She realized cold winters really weren't her thing, so she returned to the south to complete both her internship and residency at Emory University School of Medicine. Following her training, she spent seven years working for the Emory School of Medicine at Grady Hospital and kept busy caring for inpatients, outpatients and those at her own practice. She also enjoyed teaching residents as they rotated through the hospital. Dr. Lundberg took a short break from Emory when she spent two years at a startup primary care center but was excited to rejoin her Emory family at the clinic on West Ponce de Leon in 2017.

Dr. Lundberg is the devoted soccer mom of two young sons and an avid Atlanta United Soccer fan. She likes hiking, kayaking and traveling. A self-professed pizza connoisseur, she loves to taste the different pies made throughout Atlanta whenever she has the chance. She even seeks out the perfect slice when she travels...it's all about the crust!

The Key to Primary Care Is Communication

Dr. Lundberg prefers to be called Kristina. She makes eye contact. She would rather sit next to her patients at a roundtable when they chat rather than stand in front of them or sit on the far side of a big desk. Dr. Lundberg doesn't want her patients to feel rushed or as if they are a bother. If they do, she isn't able to engage them in dynamic conversations that reveal their true lifestyles and behaviors. The more information patients share, the easier it is for Dr. Lundberg to diagnose the root causes of health issues. Ultimately, this means fewer tests and faster recoveries.

Dr. Lundberg firmly believes good primary care is based on strong relationships built over time—and listening is an investment in those relationships. She is so passionate about patient-physician communication that she has conducted research and written several papers on the topic. Dr. Lundberg also spends a great deal of time training young physicians about the importance of productive dialogue. In fact, medical students and residents are often shadowing her in the clinic to learn how to be in the moment and partner with patients for their better long-term health.

Treating The Whole Person

Much of a person's health is driven by their everyday behaviors and choices. For example, lack of sleep can lead to mood disorders, high blood pressure or obesity. But what causes a lack of sleep?  Stress? Too much caffeine? Leg pain? Open communication helps Dr. Lundberg understand each patient as a whole person and to identify the behaviors and priorities that shape his/her health over time. From there, she can act as an accountability partner and guide patients as they set goals, change behaviors and achieve success.

Dr. Lundberg even encourages those who aren't experiencing any major health problems to schedule regular wellness visits in order to build a rapport with a primary care physician. It gives the doctor an opportunity to collect vital baseline information and track mental, physical and lifestyle changes over time.
