About Dr. Zaman

Dr. Shiva Zaman (pronounced zuh-mahn) cares for adults age 16 and older at Emory at Buford. She is currently accepting new patients in her primary care practice.

Primary Care for Adults
Trained in internal medicine, Dr. Zaman provides primary care for adults in Buford. She helps patients manage their conditions, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. She also cares for acute illnesses, such as the common cold and flu.
Dr. Zaman is proud to have completed all her schooling at Emory University. She first came to Emory University as an undergraduate and remained there when completing her medical degree. She also received her residency training from expert physicians at Emory Healthcare. After her training was complete, she knew she wanted to remain in the Emory Healthcare family and joined the primary care practice at Buford.

Dr. Zaman chose to become a primary care physician because she enjoys helping people stay healthy. She offers supportive preventive medicine, helping each patient stay on top of their health and wellness. She helps her patients make healthy lifestyle changes and see the improvements in their health resulting from better diet and exercise.

Inspired by Her Family
Dr. Zaman was inspired to seek a career in medicine after seeing the difference quality care can make. When her mother was ill, Dr. Zaman was inspired by the many healthcare providers who cared for her mother, providing support and attention. Dr. Zaman knew she wanted to provide that same level of quality care to others and make a positive impact on others’ lives.

Dr. Zaman continued to be inspired by her mother’s perseverance and positivity. Her mother’s example helps her get through difficult times and adversity.

Patient-Centered Internal Medicine Care
Dr. Zaman enjoys caring for people in the Buford and Atlanta community, which she has called home for many years. She cares for each patient’s individual needs, providing services such as annual physicals, disease management, immunizations, women’s health care and more.

She strives to help her patients improve their health and well-being through patient-centered care. She provides primary care medicine for a wide range of conditions, including diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), asthma, allergies, the common cold, influenza and other minor illnesses and injuries.
Dr. Zaman considers all of her patient’s needs, including their personal health goals, current health conditions and lifestyle. She takes the time to get to know her patients well so she can help them find the treatments that are right for them. She teaches each of her patients about their conditions so they can actively participate in their care.

Dr. Zaman works along with her caring team at Emory at Buford to offer outstanding primary care. Through their team approach, they support each patient with convenient, personalized care.

More about Dr. Zaman
Dr. Zaman volunteers at the Gwinnett County Children’s Shelter in Buford, helping homeless children and young mothers. She provides free health care for residents at the shelter, addressing the specific health needs of the homeless population. When she was younger, Dr. Zaman was a traveling musician and even had a VH1 special.

Now in her spare time, Dr. Zaman still enjoys traveling, though for rest instead of performing. She enjoys experiencing new places with her family, including her spouse and siblings. Her favorite vacation spot is Turks and Caicos.
