Patient-Centered Care from a Team of Specialists

Emory’s team of transplant doctors is highly skilled in the care of their patients. A transplant surgeon will perform your surgery and supervise your care after surgery. The transplant surgeon will also follow your progress after you leave the hospital.

For the second time, Emory Transplant Center has been awarded the prestigious Patient-Centered Specialty Practice designation by the National Committee for Quality Assurance. This is the highest level of recognition a specialty practice can receive. It is awarded to healthcare facilities that excel in the delivery of exceptional quality patient-centered care.

Organ Placement Program

The Emory Organ Placement Team is trained to review all organs that might be a match with our patients. This nursing team is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to review donor offers with the transplant surgeon on call. Together with numerous organ donation organizations, our team of nurses is responsible for coordinating the transplant process from the time the initial offer is received through calling a patient to the center for their transplant. If a patient is offered a possible transplant, one of our coordinators will be in contact.

Support Before and After Surgery

Patient education and other resources are part of our care programs. For patients who travel to the region, we offer the Mason Guest House, a low-cost home-away-from-home.
