Wound Care Center and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Emory Decatur Hospital’s Comprehensive Wound Care Center provides specialized treatment for people suffering from chronic or non-healing wounds.

These wounds can cause severe health risks and may result in life-threatening infections, possible amputation and debilitating health problems. With the state-of-the-art treatment available at our Comprehensive Wound Care Center, however, people with slow-healing wounds no longer have to suffer. Our comprehensive approach can heal wounds that have resisted other treatments, and help you avoid loss of limbs, reduce incidence of recurrence and get your life back.

Many types of wounds can be treated at the Emory Decatur Hospital Comprehensive Wound Care Center. Some of these include:

Wound Care Specialists

The wound care management team at the Emory Decatur Hospital Comprehensive Wound Care Center is made up of a specialized group of wound care specialists and professionals that includes:

  • Physicians with advanced training in wound care management
  • Nursing staff trained in the care of chronic wounds
  • Technicians who perform non-invasive studies and various therapies
  • Experienced staff to assist with appointments, medical records, and health insurance processing

Our wound care management staff also has access to a variety of consultants to assist each advanced wound care specialist in ensuring that all of your wound care needs are met. These consultants are medical experts in areas such as endocrinology, pain management, podiatry, internal medicine, physical therapy, and nutrition. You are also an important part of the wound care management team, and we will instruct you on ways you can assist our wound care specialists in your own healing process.

When to Seek Treatment for Chronic Wounds

If you suffer from a chronic wound or non-healing wound, speak with your physician about wound treatments at the Emory Decatur Hospital Comprehensive Wound Care Center. You may be a candidate for treatment for chronic wounds in our outpatient program. If you are, the Wound Care Center will work with you to understand the causes of chronic wounds as well as the treatment for chronic wounds. We will also work with you and your doctor to deliver:

  • Advanced therapies, which may include hyperbaric oxygen therapy
  • Proven clinical protocols
  • An individualized, comprehensive plan of care that brings you the most appropriate and effective treatments for your particular needs
  • Assessment and ongoing treatment for chronic wounds by our highly skilled team of wound care specialists, including a case manager who will oversee every aspect of your case
  • Thorough training for you and your family on the treatment of chronic wounds at home
  • Educational materials and resources related to prevention, nutrition, hygiene and other key chronic wound care topics for you and your family
  • Ongoing communication, including updated photos of your wound, so that you and your primary care doctor stay informed and up to date on all aspects of wound treatments and your healing
