The Interventional Pulmonology Program at Emory Healthcare is the largest and most comprehensive program of its kind in Georgia. We offer a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. We created the program to provide patients with access to the latest, minimally invasive, state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatments for lung and pleural diseases. 

Advanced Diagnostic Procedures

  • Flexible Bronchoscopy (with bronchoalveolar lavage or lung biopsy)
  • Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS)
  • Electromagnetic Navigation Bronchoscopy (SuperDimension™)
  • High Definition and Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) Bronchoscopy
  • Medical Thoracoscopy with Pleural Biopsy and Pleurodesis

Treatments and Services 

TOTAL Lung Cancer Clinic

The program is a founding member of the Multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology Clinic (TOTAL: Thoracic Oncology Treatment and Long Term Care Clinic). Patients are evaluated and managed in a multidisciplinary approach with colleagues in Thoracic Surgery, Medical Oncology, and Radiation Oncology. Treatment plans are individualized based on patient needs with the most advanced care possible.

As a complete program, we perform the following advanced, non-invasive diagnostic, therapeutic, and palliative procedures in both the inpatient and outpatient setting:

  • Trans-Tracheal Oxygen (TTO) Catheter Placement
  • Endoscopic Lung Volume Reduction for COPD
