Radiation Oncology Treatments

Radiation therapy uses high-energy waves to shrink tumors and kill cancer cells. After being diagnosed with cancer, nearly two-thirds of patients will receive radiation therapy, according to the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).

Radiation can be used alone or in conjunction with other treatments, such as surgery or chemotherapy. At Emory’s Winship Cancer Institute, our radiation oncologists collaborate with medical oncologists and surgeons to develop treatment plans personalized for each patient.
