For Referring Physicians

Virtually any patient receiving treatment for Major Depressive Disorder may be referred for a one-time comprehensive evaluation for Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD). The patient must be working with a psychiatrist who is responsible for managing the patient’s psychiatric care before and after the one-time consultation with the TRD team. Our team includes psychiatrists, a psychologist, nurse practitioner, social worker, and patient care coordinator.

Refer a Patient

To refer a patient for a one-time, comprehensive consultation or to speak with our patient care coordinator about the referral process, please call 404-712-8732 (TRDC), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The TRD Clinic is an excellent option for adult patients over 18 years of age who have failed multiple medications and treatments for depression. The Emory TRD Clinic works with patients who are under the care of a psychiatrist to recommend a multi-disciplinary and evidence-based set of treatment recommendations.

TRD Evaluation Process

  • Patients receive a one-time face-to-face evaluation with our team. Treatment recommendations are discussed with the patient and family member.
  • The referring psychiatrist receives a detailed written summary of the evaluation and treatment recommendations.
  • Referrals for further assessment and/or treatment are provided to the patient as needed.
  • The patient is scheduled for a follow-up phone call with our team to answer any additional questions, as needed.
