Patient Satisfaction: How Does Emory Measure Up?

Emory Healthcare is dedicated to partnering with patients and their families to provide a quality experience. One of the ways in which we track the patient experience is by regularly surveying our patients about the care they received at our facilities. Emory Healthcare works with Press Ganey to conduct this nationally benchmarked, objective patient satisfaction survey. Here is how the survey process works:

Press Ganey randomly selects patients who have recently had an experience at Emory Healthcare.

• Those selected patients receive a survey mailed to their home addresses. (If you ever receive one of our surveys – please complete it! We value your feedback.)
• The survey asks patients a series of questions related to their individual experience. These responses are collected by Press Ganey and converted to numeric scores in the following ways:

♦ All questions are rated by the patient’s individual experience and scored 0 - 100. Example - “Overall rating of care received during your visit” score of 100
♦ All patient scores of individual questions are compiled to provide snapshot of how our patients responded to that particular question. Example - EHC Outpatient Service “Overall rating of care received during your visit” score of 92.5
♦ Press Ganey then compares our scores to the scores of more than 10,000 health care organizations in their database. A high percentile rank is better than a low percentile rank, with the highest percentile rank being the 99th and the lowest being the 1st. Example - EHC Outpatient Service “Overall rating of care received during your visit” score of 92.5 and is ranked in the 93rd percentile (i.e., better than 93 percent of other organizations with this question included in the survey database).
