Head & Neck Cancer Services

Head and neck cancer affects the mouth, throat, nose and sinuses, and salivary glands. Oral and oropharyngeal, laryngeal, and hypopharyngeal cancers are included in this group of diseases.

At Emory Healthcare, our team of ear, nose and throat doctors diagnose, treat and manage head and neck cancer conditions.

Our expert head and neck surgeons partner with the specialists at Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University, Georgia’s first and only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. If you are diagnosed with head or neck cancer, we create a personalized, collaborative care plan for you.

As specialists, our teams develop groundbreaking treatments that produce better outcomes and are adopted by other leading cancer centers. The care of head and neck cancer is complicated. It frequently requires a coordinated multidisciplinary team approach due to the need for a combination of treatments such as surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy to provide optimum outcomes for patients. Our surgeons also are members of the Winship Cancer Institute, Georgia’s first and only National Cancer Institute (NCI). Our surgeons have a wealth of experience and collaborate with clinical partners in hematology and medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, and pathology.

Speech and swallowing therapists, nurses, navigators, social workers, technicians, and others are all part of the comprehensive cancer care team and collaborate to enhance the patient and family experience. Our surgeons also are experienced in Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS), which offers a less invasive approach with faster recovery in selected cases. Our experienced microvascular reconstructive team provides superior care for patients in need of major reconstruction after treatment of their cancers.
