Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (Cardiac MRI)

MRI uses a large magnet and radiofrequency waves to produce high quality images of the heart. It is a non-invasive test that does not use ionizing radiation (X-rays) or iodinated contrast agents. MRIs allow physicians to obtain detailed pictures of the heart and blood vessels which are reconstructed to provide live, moving images of the beating heart from different angles. MRI provides accurate recreations of heart chamber size, valve function, and may help detect the presence of congenital heart disease, coronary artery disease, and aortic disease. MRI image quality is unparalleled.
