Cardiac Surgical Treatments and Services

In addition to developing innovative methods of performing cardiac surgery, the members of Emory's Adult Cardiac Surgery Team are international experts and teachers of such minimally invasive procedures as off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery and robotically assisted, minimally invasive coronary artery bypass surgery, the least invasive method of bypass surgery currently available.

Emory’s cardiac surgeons offer more procedures than any other service in Georgia, including:

Coronary Artery Disease/Coronary Atherosclerosis

  • Coronary artery bypass surgery
  • Complex coronary artery revascularization
  • Reoperative coronary artery bypass surgery
  • Robotically assisted, minimally invasive coronary artery bypass surgery
  • Hybrid minimally invasive coronary artery bypass and coronary artery stent placement

Valvular Heart Disease

  • Complex aortic, mitral and tricuspid valve surgery
  • Minimally invasive mitral valve repair
  • Minimally invasive mitral valve replacement
  • Minimally invasive aortic valve repair
  • Transcatheter aortic valve implantation
  • Stentless aortic valve replacement
  • Combined valve and coronary artery bypass surgery

Thoracic Aortic Disease

  • Thoracic aortic aneurysm repair (traditional and minimally invasive procedures)
    • Valve-sparing aortic root replacement
  • Thoracic aortic dissection repair
    • Valve-sparing aortic root replacement
  • Surgery for Marfan syndrome
