1961 - DeKalb General Hospital opens (320 beds)

1971 - Hospital expands and doubles in size (640 beds)

1973 - Emergency Room opens

1978 - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) opens

1985 - Wellness Center opens

1991 - Laparoscopic surgery starts

1993 - Maternity/Surgery Center opens

1994 - Long Term Acute Care hospital at Downtown Decatur opens

1999 - Wellness on Wheels mobile health van hits the road

2004 - PET/CT scanning services offered

2005 - DeKalb Medical at Hillandale opens

2006 - DeKalb Medical's Surgical Weight Loss Center opens

2007 - New Women's & Surgery Center opens

2007 - Surgical Weight Loss Center receives a Bariatric Center of Excellence designation

2008 - da Vinci robotic surgery system offered

2009 - Joint Solutions Center opens

2011 - Heart and Vascular Center opens

2012 - The Comprehensive Breast Center at DeKalb Medical Hillandale opens

2014 - Center for Lung Health opens

2014 - Heartburn Solutions Center opens

2015 - DeKalb Medical is the first hospital in Georgia to earn the international “Baby-Friendly” Hospital Initiative (BFHI) designation from Baby-Friendly USA, Inc.

2015 - Renovations completed at Comprehensive Breast Center at North Decatur.

2016 - Comprehensive Breast Center at Hillandale begins offering 3D Mammography.

2016 - DeKalb Medical Achieves National Accreditation from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program.

2017 - The Emergency Department at North Decatur undergoes a major renovation to add beds.

2018 - DeKalb Medical becomes part of the Emory Healthcare family on September 1.
