Daniel S. Owens, MBA
Daniel Owens is CEO of Emory University Hospital Midtown (EUHM), a role he assumed in 2015.
After graduating from Emory, Owens joined the Emory Clinic, working in primary care practices. During his 20 years of service, he has held numerous operations positions, including financial administrator for the Woodruff Health Sciences Center, which had a $1.7 billion budget at the time; corporate controller for Emory Healthcare’s corporate finance department; director of operations for the Emory Center for Critical Care, where he was responsible for business operations for all ICUs at Emory hospitals (135 ICU beds); and senior administrator of the Division of Hospital Medicine, the largest academic hospital medicine program in the nation, with more than 115 hospitalists and 20 mid-level providers at nine hospitals across the state of Georgia, including long-term acute care hospitals. Owens also directed business operations for the Emory Center for Palliative Care and General Internal Medicine (primary care).
Prior to being named CEO, Owens held the position of vice president of operations at EUHM.
Owens is an active leader and member in numerous health care organizations in Georgia and across the country. He received a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Emory University and a Master’s of Business Administration from Brenau University. He completed a nine-month intensive executive course in Managing Healthcare Delivery at Harvard Business School and is a Fellow of the Woodruff Leadership Academy. He is also certified in LEAN quality improvement.
