Ryan White Program

HIV/AIDS Services and Resources

Emory has been a Ryan White partner since 2002, servicing patients living with HIV/AIDS with out-of-pocket expenses for the care and treatment of HIV related illnesses. Emory receives federal funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program to provide a comprehensive system of HIV primary medical care, essential support services, and medications for low-income people living with HIV who are uninsured and underserved. The Program provides care and treatment services to people living with HIV/AIDS to improve health outcomes and reduce HIV transmission among hard-to-reach populations.

Mission Statement

We provide high-quality medical care, treatment, and social support services to people living with HIV/AIDS through the Ryan White CARE Act.

Services and Resources

EUHM Ryan White Consumer Advisory Board (C.A.B.)

C.A.B. is a board made up of Ryan White program participants. Members meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month for 1.5 to 2 hours to review and evaluate the clinic's services—as well as discuss innovative new programs to keep patients engaged in their medical care.

The board was formed by the Ryan White Care Act guidelines that require the program to receive input from enrolled patients. The board has developed numerous programs, such as the men's group, new patient orientation, hiring peer support specialists, patient services information cards, lunch and learn programming and more.

C.A.B. members gain access to resources, training, conferences, and are encouraged to be advocates for other clinic patients. C.A.B. was the first in the Atlanta area to have all of its members fully trained and certified in quality improvement.

To join, please contact your social worker or Ritanza Abron, Ryan White Program Coordinator, to discuss.

Men’s Support Group

The Men's Support Group offers a safe place for men living with HIV to come, listen, or discuss anything happening in their life and get support from peers. The group meets second Wednesday each month from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and is open to all ages.

If you are interested, contact Jeff Figueroa at 404-686-2011 or Eric Thompson at 404-686-3228.

She Matters – Women’s Support Group

The group’s discussions and activities range from coping skills, general discussion, education, medication adherence, mind-body connection, yoga & meditation, and more.

The group’s discussions and activities range from coping skills, general discussion, education, medication adherence, mind-body connection, yoga & meditation, and more.

Research shows that people who have support systems have better medical outcomes than those who don't. Long term members have been able to find solace in knowing that they are not alone in raising their children, dealing with family issues, accepting their diagnosis, and coping with medication side effects. The group has two co-facilitators that are well versed in women living with HIV/AIDS, mental health, and life stressors.

If you are interested in joining the group, please contact your social worker or Magdalene at 404-616-9793, or Diana at 404-686-3280.
