About Dr. Wilson

Dr. Wilson is a primary care physician in Atlanta. He sees patients of all ages (from toddlers to geriatrics) in the Emory Clinic at Midtown for a variety of acute and chronic issues. He enjoys tending to everyone in the family and encourages mom, dad and the kids to have regular wellness exams in order to create or update their personalized prevention plans.

Dr. Wilson graduated from The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University (Greenville, NC) and completed his residency with Emory University School of Medicine in 2017. He decided to join the Emory Healthcare team because of the wonderful friendships he made during his residency and because of his interest in academic medicine.

Dr. Wilson likes the variety that comes with being a primary care physician, as he can visit with patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He also appreciates the opportunity to work closely with residents and medical students throughout the Emory system as a preceptor.

Dr. Wilson spends his free time with his wife and young son. He is active in his church and has a passion for St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

His Stance On Primary Care

Before all else, Dr. Wilson sees himself as a patient advocate. He recognizes that no two primary care patients are alike. Each has his/her own lifestyle, behaviors, and thoughts about what it means to live a quality life. Therefore, Dr. Wilson takes the time to get to know each patient as a whole person. When he understands what makes a person tick, it becomes easier to connect the dots and uncover the root cause of an issue.

Dr. Wilson takes his role as a patient advocate seriously. It is important to him that each patient's quality of life is what he/she wants it to be, so he helps his patients recognize the severity of their diagnoses and find meaningful ways in which they can control or improve their conditions. Dr. Wilson works with patients to define mutually-beneficial healthcare goals and then determines the best ways to optimize care and reduce risk factors based on the severity and acuity of each situation.

Continuity of care is also an important part of Dr. Wilson's philosophy and a helpful tool for balancing patient desires with sound medical advice. Many of Dr. Wilson's patients struggle with diabetes and cardiovascular disease. He is better able to monitor their symptoms and facilitate their ability to successfully manage risk factors when he sees them regularly and acts as the first point of contact for all of their medical needs.

Early detection is the best way of preventing long-term disease or serious complications from chronic ailments. Therefore, Dr. Wilson advises patients to call for an appointment at the first sign of trouble. Better yet, he believes everyone (even those who haven't had any health issues) should schedule routine checkups. This gives him the chance to learn family history, create a screening schedule, and provide health advice/education—all in an effort to stave off problems before they begin.
