About Andrea Gayden
Andrea Gayden, MSN, APN, is a nurse practitioner with Emory at Stonecrest - Primary Care. She currently sees adult patients and has special interests in heart disease and diabetes management.
Inspired by tragedy
A tragic event prompted Andrea to pursue a career in medicine. Her father died of a heart attack at age 42 after his heart disease went undiagnosed. Andrea changed her career goals from law to nursing. Now, she helps people identify illnesses early so they enjoy a full, healthy life.
After earning an undergraduate degree in English from Spelman College, Andrea sought a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Clayton State University. She worked as a registered nurse in a long-term acute care facility as well as in the cardiovascular unit at Grady Hospital before attending Emory University for a Master of Science in nursing.
A focus on the underserved
Throughout her career, Andrea has worked in settings where she cared for underserved populations. That’s intentional on her part. Working with the underserved is her way of giving back to her community. Before joining Emory Healthcare, Andrea worked at Grady Health System Primary Care and Mercy Care in Atlanta, where she served largely underserved populations. She has also volunteered her time to provide medical care to unhoused populations in Georgia.
When she’s not working, Andrea enjoys physical fitness and spending time with her daughter.

The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions shown below from our survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
The Clinic professionals are kind and I've watched other Doctor's with their patients and how they are greeted. The 3 visits I've had withN/P Gayden felt rushed, unconcerned and I left with just Increased blood pressure meds and no health care plan.
Andrea was very rude and condescending, not focused on what I was sharing, rather more interested in challenging me as to "why" I was there as "you were just released from the ER yesterday, you should not be here today, you should have been seen in the next week to two weeks." I didn't appreciate her lack of respect, or taking the time to Listen to Hear vs hearing to Respond. I was told by the ER to follow up on the next day. I had had a ER visit at Gwinnett hospital and they were unable to knock my BP down. (It's still running 200's over 100's) but they make me feel like I just need to sleep it off and none of the tests are saying/showing anything. I have my automatic pressure cuff that will show the red zone BP readings; so I'm not exactly sure when I'm supposed to go to the hospital or not at this point. She has consistently done this to me when I've had to see her because my physician was unavailable. Im not able to ask questions for clarity as she talks in circles as if others don't have the brain God gave an ant; so I couldn't ask that question to gain clarification. Honestly, I NEVER want to be seen by her again. I would find another practice First and I love everyone else I've been seen and cared for by there. Another example, she changed medication my last visit to her prior to the ER visits, and one was a hydrochlorathyozide; to be taken as needed for swelling. She disrespectfully challenged why I wasn't taking it; and I clarified that I wasn't to take it if I weren't swellingasking if I were correc that it was what she instructed on the former visit; she verified and I shared again that I hadn't taken it because I wasn't swelling being off of the Amlodipine. Andrea is just not, nor has she ever been a personable individual with me/my care. I'm a psychiatric professional so I understand how to read behavior, conversation, actions, etc., and she's always very rude and condescending. I came for help with my blood pressure, constant headaches and what to do about it besides end up in the ER; not to receive her nasty/snarky comments or attitude towards me. This again is more that the first time it has occurred. ,mI finally decided that it is just the last time I'll deal with it. I prefer to be seen by my physician or another caring, kind, attentive to the issues, needs/outcomes, and a listening to hear professional in the building. The Nursing Assistants are always professional, smiling, and kind. It's always a pleasure to see and speak with them. She is a NO!
NP Garden is an excellent provider. I feel like she gives full attention to your concerns.
Best medical team I have ever had.
Communication was impeccably tailored to my ability to understand and retain the information. She should teach a class for caregivers!
Great
Andrea Gayden is excellent
Great practioner
I was there for a prescription refill. I've already jumped through ALL the different ideas for not using this medication. That's why I need the medication because I and my Dr know it's the only thing that even moderately works. Didn't feel it was necessary to rejump through all the hoops for a medication I've been on for 3+ years. On top of now being required to have in person "proof of life" appointments.
She is quite good and swift in her diagnosis and treatment. Very informative and inclusive in formulating treatment plans!
Understanding the needs at that time..and being informative.

Very pleasant experience
Andrea Gayden, NP is an excellent provider. I am very happy that she is my primary healthcare provider.
This visit showed improvements in caring about me and questions, but she seemed rushed less that made this better experience. BUT STILL
This was the worst experience I've ever had with a health care provider. The NP was rude and judgmental. She was too busy telling me she was a doctor and knew things to listen to me and my concerns. The medical assistant even warned me prior to meeting the NP that she would be difficult. It is very concerning to me that this NP's medical staff feels the need to warn patients about the NP's attitude. The NP's lack of care and consideration for patients should be addressed. I began crying in this appointment due to being cut off and not listened to, and this NP did not care, and continued with her combative attitude.
The provider was very knowledgeable and professional.
GREAT
Very good bedside manner
Excellent
I don't think she read my chart before coming in the room.
She was excellent
She never addressed my issue. Waste of time.
So far I can't describe nothing bad like I said everything was good.
States on the note in my chart that provider spent 20 minutes when in fact the encounter was at max 3 minutes.
Andrea Gayden is so unprofessional made me gave this value, the assisted nurse are super nice and friendly.
Have recommended her highly to family and friends
Dr. Gayden was exceptionally nice and explained everything in detail.
Ms Gayden was pleasant and extremely thorough, she left no stone unturned, and she actively listened and explained everything. I was very impressed!
I felt like Andrea was very clear in her instructions and in helping me to understand the reason for those instructions. She made some changes in my medication which I was happy with and agreed with.

Love this office
I've been a patient at the practice for 35 years. I saw Dr Keller until he retired, now Dr Frantz ( love them both) but the soonest appointment needed to be with another provider. Andrea Gayden was excellent. This was the first time she saw me and was able to grasp my current situation concerns quickly as well as being able to request proper testing, re- evaluation of medication and prescription as well as referral to a specialist quickly and thoroughly. The after visit summary was provided quickly and accurately. A defined treatment plan was discussed and executed. Script was sent off asap, as well as the referral form to the cardiologist. I was getting my chart test updates while I was still in the patient room. I was hesitant to see someone who didn't know my history but was confident with Andrea. On a side note and not a total negative, she's very serious and could smile more. From a medical professional evaluation she was very competent and knowledgeable. Thank you
NP ANDREA GAYDEN is the best. Very thorough with her annual exam with me. Addressing any potential issues or concerns.
Andrea Gayden was excellent!

Excellent
PA was professional and thorough.
I really do like this office. Mom thinking about changing her Emory locator this one
NP Andrea Gayden was great. She was personable and professional. NP Gayden explained her thoughts clearly and appeared to be very skilled and knowledgeable. She was patient when I asked for clarity on the proposed treatment. She constantly asked for my thoughts.
She was polite but not personable. Hardly ever looked at me when talking to each other and seemed distracted and in hurry .
Good

NPR Gayden is very good. She listened to my need and helped me with moving my next appointment to my old location. I will miss her.
Exceptional experience! Everyone I had contact with was caring, and I was glad I had made the appointment.
My annual wellness assessment was very thorough, as much so as any I have had at Emory of the previous 12 to 13 years.
First time ever seeing her . She was very helpful, polite and engaged to what I was going thru. Since my PA has left I will like her as my PA if that is possible when I can't see. Dr Frantz. Thank you
She is an excellent, above and beyond doctor...took the time to go over all my concerns and provide solid feedback and next steps to get me well again!!

My appointment was with Andrea Gayden she is very personable, she explains details about your health and listens to you and make suggestions she doesn't rush you in and out even though I know she have other patients waiting
Dr. Gayden answered any questions I may have had and was very firm at explaining what needs to happen for my care. I understood her very well. She shows compassion and is very concerned to getting any problem I have rectified. I am very thankful for her to be my Dr...
Very good
Care received was exceptional
Good experience ,good conversation
I felt rushed by the NP. She didn't take much time with me. She was in and out and didn't provide me with any resources. I would not recommend her!

Love that Gayden truly listen to my concerns!
Dr. Andrea was excellent
Will recommend
I was scheduled for my physical and I had questions to ask but she told me she was supposed to ask me questions and she didn't have time allotted for me to ask questions. If I had questions I should have scheduled a follow up appointment. I went home with no answers to some of my questions. I have been with this practice for 32 years, now I think it's time to find another doctor.
NP Gayden is very good at her job. Yet, she is very courteous, professional and provides detailed information to me and explained it throughly. She communicates exceptionally well listened to me when I asked questions. She also answered my questions in details, of which I really appreciated. Emory should be very proud to have Ms.Gayden, and I am very fortunate to have her as my Primary Physician.
Good
I don't appreciate the lack of concern when it comes to my care . To be told "Look, we can't address everything" while I'm in a hypertensive crisis and having neck and shoulder pain was disheartening and concerning. This is not the first time I felt dismissed by Andrea
NPR Gayden listen to my lssue. Was very knowledgeable about my questions. Gave me answers.
