Celestine O. Maiki, M.D., is a board certified gastroenterologist. His areas of interest are general gastroenterology, hepatology, nutrition and clinical research.
Dr. Maiki received his pre-medical training from Federal Government College in Warri, Nigeria. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Lagos, College of Medicine in Lagos, Nigeria in 1982. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, Harlem Hospital Center in New York, NY in 1990. He completed his Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, CT in 1992.
Dr. Maiki practiced and owned a very successful private practice (Arizona Gastroenterology & Nutrition, PC) in Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ from 1998-2003. He moved to the Atlanta area in July 2004 and established and owned a successful private practice, Advanced Digestive Care Center, P.C., with locations in Stockbridge, Riverdale and Camp Creek.
Dr. Maiki joined Emory at Spivey Station in July 2017. With his affiliation with Emory Healthcare in the field of gastroenterology, he provides access to his patients for gastroenterology care in specialized areas of gastroenterology, including, but not limited to, interventional endoscopy, biliary and pancreatic care, motility, inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), liver diseases and liver transplant.
Dr Maiki has served in the Credentialing Committee at Piedmont Henry Hospital and in the P&T committee at Southern Regional Hospital and Atlanta Medical Center South. He was the Chairman of the Endoscopy committee at Piedmont Henry Hospital from 2009 to 2017.
Dr. Maiki is board-certified in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He enjoys sports, reading, music, chess and poetry. However, his main passions are traveling and meeting people all around the world and going to music concerts and festivals.
