Generally, I don't have opportunity to refer health providers to anyone; perhaps if a family member needed a neurologist, I would direct them to this doctor. ~ I appreciated the doctor discussing the issue of an updated MRI and the change from the original images; in fact, he drew a diagram explaining the initial problem, how it may have occurred, and why follow-up now with a cardiologist would be advised.

Our provider was magnificent. Although we waited an extraordinarily long time to be face-to-face with the provider, the care we received was wonderful. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't know the underlying reason why I have the headaches I have.

It was clear the doctor was uninformed about my condition. He seemed unsure and flustered. I work in healthcare so I understand sometimes you have a patient in front of you that is medically confusing However he provided no information of value or education about my condition, the symptoms I'm having or anything at all! I had to probe and ask multiple times why he wanted me to get another MRI when I have four or five in the system as a recent one two months ago. I was very fisatisfied with his lack of knowledge about my condition, inability to explain my options and lack of understanding pressing any understanding about Chiari malformation. I felt completely crushed and sad when leaving because I wasted fourth minutes getting there waited two hours for a ten minute totally uninformatice appointment He basically told me to get another mri and follow up. I don't know why he did not just tell me this before the appointment and save me hours and money. So dissapointing!!

It was an all around good visit. I normally get frustrated when a med student interviews me before the doctor because it feels like a waste of my time because I have to repeat myself with the doctor. This medical student was the exception. He seemed concerned about me and asked questions to clarify what was going on with me and he conveyed it well to Dr. Makki. My family and I will be forever grateful to him for diagnosing my Dad with peripheral nerve vasculitis which is rare. Yet, Dr. Makki figured out what was going on and was sure about it beyond a shadow of doubt. He said it was a textbook case yet others misdiagnosed it, causing us to lose valuable time. If we'd been in Atlanta and gone to Dr. Makki first, I feel sure my Dad would still be walking today. Now we are doing everything Dr. Makki recommends & are praying that my dad's nerves regenerate. I should say my Emory primary care doctor, Dr. Dipak Vashi, is also on another level as well as my obygn doctor Dr. Dawn Russell. It's because they are both so fabulous that it dawned on me to bring my Dad to Atlanta to be seen by Emory doctors to try to figure out his condition. I simply wish we'd known/thought to come to Emory first!

Dr. Makki is pleasant and professional - a rare combination. As we were dealing with a rather serious situation, I appreciated his honesty and obvious knowledge.

The doctor took the time to explain what the problem is and how he will help to treat it. He was very informative and knowledgeable and showed me how I can do home exercise to help with my pain
