Dr. Neujahr is the Medical Director of the Emory Lung Transplant Program. His goal is to improve access to lung transplantation for patients in the Southeast, for whom lung transplantation is a last resort. Dr. Neujahr participates in a collaborative group at Emory analyzing explanted diseased lung tissue in hopes of defining the source for many types of rare lung disease including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Dr. Neujahr is the principal investigator at Emory for a trial of an investigational agent that treats respiratory syncytial virus, a serious lung infection in lung transplant recipients. Training the next generation of pulmonary specialists is one of Dr. Neujahr’s core missions. He has developed a curriculum in end-stage lung disease for Emory University School of Medicine Pulmonary Fellows.
