Dr. Cassimatis provides inpatient and outpatient non-invasive cardiology care at Emory University Hospital Midtown (EUHM) in Atlanta, Georgia. He specializes in general cardiology concerns such as chest pain, palpitations, high blood pressure, murmurs, shortness of breath, syncope (passing out or nearly passing out), history of heart attack or coronary artery disease, and prevention of cardiovascular disease. He is currently the Martha West Looney Chief of Medicine at EUHM, a role he assumed in 2020, after serving for more than a decade as the cardiology medical director of the hospital’s Coronary Care Unit. In addition to his clinical and administrative work, Dr. Cassimatis co-directs the first-year medical student Cardiovascular Pathophysiology course at Emory’s School of Medicine and is one of the school’s Small Group Advisors. Before joining Emory in 2010, Dr. Cassimatis spent 11 years as a physician in the United States Army. He received his MD from Harvard University and completed his post-graduate training in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
