This team was phenomenal. Just one example: Dr was explaining what a hernia is, so PA pulls the diagram from a stash of papers and sets it next to me!!! This was EXACTLY what I needed to fully understand. Buy that PA a steak dinner for me!! Plus, the medical student and I talked when the Dr left the room temporarily. I confided in her that I wondered if my constipation and hernia were related. Dr returns for a detailed discussion of surgical options and considerations (excellent)! We're wrapping up. Then the med student, says "Dr, the patient has one more question, I believe." I couldn't remember it. I said, "Could you ask it for me?" She said, "She'd like to know if her constipation and hernia are related." I wanted to jump up and give her a hug! It doesn't get any better than this team!

I am a retired Emory physician and wanted to discuss my problem at a more professional level. When I asked specific questions, I was given a very generic answer that one would give to a nonmedical person. I specifically wanted to know why a Hartmann's procedure was done and to discuss other surgical options that might have been employed. This was not answered. I also came in with the chief complaint of fever, chills, and rectal discomfort post-op. A simple rectal exam or look at the anal area was never done, despite my questions about the rectal discomfort. The exam consisted solely of palpating my abdomen and looking at the stoma through the bag.

Dr Patel was outstanding. He was very thoughtful in his examination and review of my history and current health condition. He was very polite and considerate and reviewed potential risks and challenges associated either my surgery either me. I was very comfortable with him and as such have elected to go forward with my surgery either I have tremendous confidence in him. I was referred to Dr Patel by my Emory gastroenterologist Dr Curtis

I was so impressed by the way I was treated I already have recommended this practice to my family and friends. I told them that if I need anything else ( which I hope I don't) I'm coming back to see them.

Dr Patel is an excellent surgeon and communicator. The visit was very productive. He even volunteered an explanation for a long standing phenomenon I have that I never have understood before now based on his observations during the surgery. I'm well and very satisfied with my care.
