About

Dr. Lin travels academically teaching laparoscopic and endoscopy techniques. He is involved in ongoing studies in the role of gut hormones in appetite control and diabetes. He pioneered single incision laparoscopic techniques for colon and solid organ surgery.
While Dr. Lin was a young surgeon training in New York City, the field of laparoscopic surgery exploded. He realized that many of the operations performed in the abdomen (liver, stomach, pancreas and colon) may be completed with smaller incisions which speed recovery. He has spent the past decade developing ways to perform these same operations with the least invasive approach as possible. This means some patients who have laparoscopic surgery for advanced colon cancer can receive chemotherapy in the same month.  Dr. Lin's proudest moments have been seeing patients with diabetes come off insulin and survivors of stomach and esophagus cancers sending him notes seven years after surgery.
Dr. Lin sits on Editorial Boards of Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Bariatric Surgical Practice and Patient Care, Journal of Laparoendoscopic and Advanced Surgical Techniques, Surgery for Obesity and Related Disorders, and Bariatric Times.  He holds a patent on endoscopic surgery device.

Extremely disappointed for the lack of care and empathy. For never meeting me he placed a death timeframe on me. I explained my concern about how I did not feel that the CT that was ordered by the neurologist was done properly as I was folded in half basically and I hit the machine. His words were kudos to the tech after I explained that I had bruised on my arm from the poor placement on the machine. I am 70 years old and nonverbal due to ALS so I couldn't even advocate for myself nor did the tech try to lower me down. The doctor did not understand why I Didn't want to have general surgery, but as an ALS patient, it is not advised as I could end up on a ventilator, and he seemed not to care. I called my primary doctor to have a re-scan and sure enough. The scan came back normal, although he sat there and said that my stomach and intestines overlapped and were probably adhered by scar tissue due to a gallbladder removal several years prior. He also complained about the fact that I wanted a re-scan that how inconvenient it was for him and how he'd have to figure out how to code it to get another scan done. And so many words, insulted my daughter as she disagreed with the findings from the poorly done scan. He said it was the worst case he had ever seen in his career, but yet when I received another CT, his findings were not the same as Dr Linns. I will not let Dr Linn see me, let alone ever touch me, and will not continue with surgery.

Dr E Lin has great bedside manner. He truly cares about his patients. I had a scan done, and it showed areas of concern. He referred me to a specialist to make sure that everything was ok before addressing his part.
