About
Emily B. Graubart, MD, joined Emory Eye Center in 2008 and currently serves as interim director of Comprehensive Ophthalmology. She is the director of Medical Student Education and of the Ophthalmology Clerkship for Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Opththalmology.
Dr. Graubart received her BA in Psychology from Northwestern University Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences in 2000. She then went to Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and graduated from the honors program in medical education in 2004. She completed her residency in Ophthalmology at Emory University School of Medicine in 2008.
Dr. Graubart’s clinical interests include cataract and laser surgery, ophthalmic manifestations of systemic disease, including diabetic retinopathy, and the medical and microinvasive surgical management of glaucoma. She has a special academic interest in mentoring and training medical students and residents. Her research interests include examining the best approach to using digital tools to teach medical students basic ophthalmology and ophthalmoscopy. Dr. Graubart recently created an online interactive cataract surgery course for medical student education.
Dr. Graubart provides patient care at the Emory Eye Center and Grady Memorial Hospital.
National Recognition
Dr. Graubart is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). She is also an active member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery(ASCRS), the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology(AUPO), the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology, and the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
Dr. Graubart serves as co-chair of the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO) Educational Resource Development and Research Committee for Medical Student Education. Her committee recently created a national ophthalmology curriculum for medical students. She also serves as President-elect of the AUPO Medical Student Education Council. She has previously served as councilor for the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology.
She has published articles and book chapters in peer-reviewed publications and has presented her educational research and surgical techniques at numerous national scientific meetings.

Dr Graubart is wonderful. She performed my successful cataract surgeries 11 years ago and continues to be my eye doctor! She is always knowledgeable of my concerns about genetic risk for glaucoma, and is very thorough and reassuring in her examination and assessment. Doctor Graubart is terricic.
I like the doctor she was very knowledgeable and understood right away. What the issue was she did the necessary testing equipment and checked my eyes and she explained what she felt was the situation and gave me an easy way to address it. I just wish I could've seen her faster because it was such a long wait that by the time I got a chance to see her I had a awful headache and it was hard for me to gather my thoughts.

Dr. Graubart, like so many Emory physicians, is way too busy. She has unintended manner of seeming not particularly interested in spending time with you. Does not give the feeling you are front and center in her attention when together. A bit gruff at times.

EXCELLENT JOB
The staff from clerical to Dr was wonderful and I have already referred my sister to Emory eye clinic.
Dr. Graubart is exceptional. After discussing my frustration with getting an accurate lens prescription, she went over and above to test me for any macular degeneration. She determined that I had recurring astigmatism in spite of my lasik surgery in 2006 that fixed it.

Bad Experience
The whole team was wonderful - Dr Graubart, Dr Spaulding, Nurse Emma, and Nurse Frances.
Dr arrived after I waited in exam room for an hr. Seemed rushed to get thru and move on. Gave minimal information about the problem I was having. No information about effectiveness of procedure, or short or long term complications. Just "sign the form". Absolutely unacceptable. Do you think people aren't concerned about their eyes? That patients don't want or expect information?
