It was great he gave me a steroid injection (which is helping), but I didn't know about the fluid aspiration. However, I look forward to seeing the results!

1 out of 5 Reviewed on 2026-01-09

This was a very disappointing experience. Dr. Rubel obviously spent no time preparing for the visit prior to entering the room. He had the incorrect date for my injury, which obviously impacts his interpretation of my follow up x-ray and the management. He did not look at my previous images, even though I made every effort to have the images sent and received confirmation the previous week that the images were received by Emory, and reviewed. When I offered him the CDs containing my previous images, he did not even take them from me.His advice regarding allowed activities after my pelvis fracture was generic. To make things worse, he did not examine me. The only contact he made with me was when he shook my hand. He did into evaluative my gait, range of motion, tenderness or anything. When asked about a timeline when I could return to driving, my job and other activities, he essentially told me I could do whatever I wanted. He did not recommend physical therapy. I had to ask for it.

Excellent and informative as to what to expect in the future as my hip replacement settles in. I also had my stitches taken out with very little discomfort. Great job in answering all my questions.

3 out of 5 Reviewed on 2025-11-19

I had a better conversation with the nurse/assistant than I did with the Dr. Rubel. Because I had mentioned strongly considering a hip replacement to the nurse/assistant, Dr. Rubel immediately came in with the ending in mind without talking through my actual condition. It felt as though he became frustrated with my questions to get a better understanding of my condition, spoke to my mother more than me, and seemed eager to pass me off to another doctor.
