John D. Puskas, MD, has re-joined the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine on April 1, 2024. He returns to Emory where he previously served for 17 years and has assumed the role of Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Emory University Hospital Midtown.
Dr. Puskas returns to Emory after 10 years in New York City, where he was chairman of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital and led it to become the 16th ranked heart hospital in the country by US News and World Report. Dr. Puskas has co-edited the first major textbook dedicated to surgical coronary revascularization, founded the International Society for Coronary Artery Surgery and has led the annual meeting of the International Coronary Congress since 2015.
Dr. Puskas is internationally recognized for his expertise in coronary surgery, specifically all-arterial, off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery. He will partner with William Nicholson, MD to lead Emory’s Complex Coronary Revascularization program and will also play a leading role in growth of clinical trials and clinical research within the division and Emory Heart and Vascular.
