Dr. Mahmoud Abdou received his medical degree from Benghazi University School of Medicine in Benghazi, Libya. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, then completed an additional fellowship in Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology, and Echocardiography.
Dr. Abdou is joining the distinguished faculty of the Emory Advanced Heart Failure Therapy Center and will see patients at both the Emory University Hospital and Emory University Hospital Midtown campuses.
He holds professional memberships in the American College of Cardiology, Heart Failure Society of America and International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation.
Dr. Abdou's clinical interests include Left-Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) therapy, Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) and management of cardiogenic shock, and cardiac transplantation. Additionally, he will be heavily involved in the medical education of residents and fellows training at the Emory University School of Medicine.
