Margi McKellar, MS, MMS PA-C, is a physician assistant in Surgical Oncology and Dermatology and serves as the program coordinator of the Melanoma Clinic. In this position, she serves as the point of contact for referring physicians and their patients from their initial referrals through long-term follow-up. She helps our patients use their time efficiently, analyzing patient flow, appointment availability, and clinical trial eligibility. She ensures that patients see the correct specialists to receive optimal care and also ensures patients have the opportunity to be considered for clinical trials while facilitating prompt screening for these programs. In addition to coordinating the care of patients, Ms. McKellar sees patients in the long-term follow-up clinic.
Ms. McKellar moved to Atlanta in 2005 upon acceptance into Emory University's top-ranked Physician Assistant Program, of which she was nominated president of her class. During her studies, Ms. McKellar was an active volunteer with the Emory Physician Assistant Program and the Good Samaritan Health Center. Her research experience at the University of Florida lead her to specialize in oncology and allowed her to apply her previous laboratory research to everyday clinical experiences. She worked for four years in the hematology and oncology field before joining the melanoma team at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.
Ms. McKellar earned a Bachelors of Science from Elon University. She holds a Master of Science in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Florida. She also earned a Masters of Medical Science from Emory University School of Medicine’s Physician Assistant Program before beginning her career as a physician assistant. She completed specific training with Winship Cancer Institute’s Surgical Oncology Team as well as MD Anderson Cancer Center’s GI Medical Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant teams.
