About

Dr. Gandiga is committed to the ideal that compassionate, collaborative, patient-centered care is the core of rheumatology.

While he enjoys helping patients with a variety of rheumatologic conditions, he has a special interest in autoimmune muscle diseases and myositis (including dermatomyositis, polymyositis, anti-synthetase syndrome, and immune-mediated necrotizing myositis).

In addition to patient care activities, he serves in multiple national and local professional societies and medical education efforts. He has also completed clinical research training through the competitive National Institutes of Health CRTP program and educator training through the selective Measey Medical Educators' Training Program.

In his free-time, he enjoys being outdoors, discovering good things to eat, and making up silly songs to sing to his family and their gooberhead rescue dog.

My appointment with Dr. Gandiga went very well. It's important to have a pleasant physician because that makes it easier for me to express and discuss my health concerns. Dr. Gandiga had already reviewed my labs and did a recap from a previous visit. That was part of the planning for future treatments that we discussed. He looked at my numbers/trend as discussed the effectiveness of the treatment plan. He encouraged me to continue with the aquatics and exercise program and follow up with him when needed. Overall, great encounter with Dr. Gandiga.

My appointment with Dr. Gandiga went well. He was attentive. Our dialogue was great discussing my current medications and plans going forward. He listened as I provided updates. Remained knowledgeable of my progress and what's occurring with me. Continues to communicate with my kidney specialist.

3 out of 5 Reviewed on 2025-10-04

This provider would ask me a question and not listen to me. He would repeat the questions later in the conversation and would be condescending when I answered again. It was only until he realized that I was a horse that he was a little more patient. He was also inappropriate with his knee placement between my legs and when he moved in between my legs further to do his assessment I put his hand on my knee, told him I was uncomfortable and told him to move back.

To be honest, I felt that the provider did not spend any time at all reviewing my chart before the visit since my prior encounter in the Spring. Since then I have gone through bilateral breast cancer surgery which may or may not have explained my high value on the abnormal IG SSA Shogren's test that I had been referred for by my PCP. I get that Rheumatologists get a lot of complex cases, but the least he could have done was to do a very cursory review prior to my visit. At the first visit he preferred to go through his own list of symptoms and seemed to be impatient when I tried to talk. He seems like he would be fine with a very well confirmed and interesting diagnosis, though.

The doctor was able to deal with my emotions due to frustration. He finally described how my childhood condition disappeared. He not only discussed treatment with me and not at me, he wrote everything down and I could read his handwriting! I'll admit I was unsure about him after the televisit and was giving him a fair shot before I asked for a transfer. Now he's stuck with me! I don't go with my gut very often but I'm convinced he's one of the good ones.

My interpretation of the appointment was Dr. Gandiga was going to provide drug sheets for me to read so assist selecting what needs to be added to my list of meds. I have attempted 2 searches of the portal and did not find them. I did receive the list of meds he suggested but will have to rely on Mr. Google (as my minister calls it) to do the research for me. Probable not as effectively as what he could offer.

After suffering for years and desperate for answers I honestly didn't feel the Doctor took me serious and just assumed what he thought was causing my vast list of symptoms that's making my life miserable. Just didn't feel he was sympathetic and really determined to find the root cause. Very discouraged after the appointment and felt it was a waste of my time.I don't need a sleep study nor a psychiatrist. I struggle with debilitating anxiety that's triggered by severe pain. It's extremely heartbreaking to feel helpless!
