About
Rebecca Emiah, OD, joined the optometry section of Emory Eye Center in August 2017. She sees triage and post-operative patients, performs hospital consultations, and works with those who need specialty contact lenses.
Dr. Emiah received her undergraduate education at Grand Valley State University, where she earned Bachelor of Science degrees in both Biomedical Sciences and Cell and Molecular Biology. She then studied optometry at the Michigan College of Optometry and graduated in 2016 with her Doctor of Optometry (high honors).
Following optometry school, Dr. Emiah completed a one-year residency with Georgia Eye Partners in ocular disease and ocular and refractive surgery. She has treated patients with complex cornea, dry eye and glaucoma issues. She also has experience fitting and prescribing specialty contact lenses and co-managing postoperative patients following cataract, LASIK, PRK or other procedures.
“I wanted to work in a university setting because I felt it would allow me to practice medical optometry to the highest level,” Dr. Emiah says. “It also allows me to work in all areas of my interests – hospital care, specialty contacts and ocular disease. Plus, I enjoy teaching students and interns, so working at Emory Eye Center gives me a good opportunity to share my experiences.”

Shows how much she cares about her patients
I have been seen by Dr. Emiah for years. She is one of the best ophthalmologists I have ever had.
Excellent service.
Excellent
I was very pleased with my visit with Emiah. My concern is with issues before that.
Dr. Emiah is always caring and a good listener. She always recommends her ideas but allows patient input. She is also aware of cost and keeps that in mind. I appreciate that.
Will always recommend her!

Good experience
My experience was excellent
I felt safe comfortable and I knew I was in good hands
I asked several questions about the condition of my eyes, requested explanation of some medical terms used, and all satisfactorily answered.
Dr. Emiah is great. That's why I keep coming back to see her, despite the long wait times in the holding pen.
I appreciated the thorough explanation of possible problems and the non-alarmist approach.
I really appreciate the Dr. Emiah and her staff. Dr. Emiah keeps me informed of different ideas or medications to try and she allows my input to her thoughts too. I highly recommend her practice but I do warn of the parking issues.
Excellent
Patient, very nice and explained the entire appointment as she changed up exam
Dr. Emiah was courteous and caring
Dr Emmiah was very through in her treatment options and follow up
Peyton was first rate!
Always treated real good.
Very good outcome
I felt cared for and heard
Clinical diagnoses based on operator dependent tests known to be unreliable should be made carefully. Explanations should be better. Providers shouldn't be definitive or forceful about conclusions that they're unsure about.
Good customer service
Very thorough efficient and professional
I like the doctor but probably wouldn't recommend because of wait times
In a hurry. Seemed frustrated.
Very professional, explained everything, and allowed time for questions.
Service was fine (I was there simply for a routine exam, and have no active problems, just needed my contact lens Rx adjusted), but seemed indifferent. Didn't introduce herself, barely looked at me, just typed on the computer the whole time.
She did a great job considering she must have been feeling rushed by the overflowing waiting room.
Dr Emiah was very knowledgeable, professional, and answered all my questions.
The PA was not pleasant and patronizing. He even laughed at me saying how severe my myopia is during the eye examination
She gave prescription options. And was very pleasant
Very informative and took her time to listen and explain treatment options.
She did a great job answering my questions and explained the in and outs of my conditions. Even explaining my future on the meds she prescribed.
Dr very through and Nurse assistant and tech was excellent
Very knowledgeable and thorough. Gets to the point of the problem. Has me coming back in 6 months to see if my drops are working properly for my dry eye condition.
Very good experience.
Shows concern about your situation.
Good
I had a terrible experience. I shared a concern about the tech and leaving the room not being able to see. I felt that she wanted to prove me wrong based on the first comment that came from her mouth. I left making an appt foe an eye exam. The difference of her exam, last years and my new exam are troubling! I will file a complaint. She didn't listen to my concern. To busy trying to prove points. I was there from 10- 1:30. NOT HAPPY!
Very good
I was asked if I had any questions or concerns, which I appreciated.
Great visit!
I saw real kindness yesterday. A very elderly woman who was pretty blind was treated like a queen by staff at Emory Eye Clinic. The receptionist made sure the patient knew where to catch her ride because the patient was confused. She call transport and a porter came to take the patient to catch her ride. The porter fussed over the patient telling her how pretty she was and how well dressed. This was at the end of a long day for the staff. I was almost in tears to see the kindness and tenderness. There are still kind people in the world.
Doctor great, finding my way around building makes me reluctant to recommend going to Emory
This clinic in general has usually been the epitome of supporting staff creating efficient healthcare delivery for the doctors. It runs like a top with the precision of a Swiss timepiece. Every clinic at Emory could learn from the successful model of this clinic.
Great job everyone!
All very good
The resident doctor was very pleasant. Took her time in the examination and was informative as to what she was doing and why. Answered questions completely. She was very thorough.
My only concern, I felt very rushed. Despite being early, Dr Emiah spoke very quickly and performed testing very quickly, talking and moving toward the door to leave
Very through.
Dr. Emiah is excellent!
Good
Doctor seemed to be in a hurry
I left feeling like I wasn't clear on my condition. It seems the patient load is pretty heavy and I've never felt like my Dr and I have gotten to know one another as a Dr / patient relationship.
The care provider provided excellent advice about my eye condition
Dr, Emiah is an excellent provider. She listens and tries hard to prescribe medicatiins that will work for me. Unfortunately this year the insurance provider is adding expensive demands before they release the medications. In the meantime Dr. Emiah does her best to inform me of things to try to improve my symptons without the high cost.
Wonderfully engaged and made me an active participant in my care.
Excellent
Very fast and answered all my questions
Will always recommend Emory!
The Doctor and the resident Doctor was polite and professional. Both gave a recommendation that the low vision field would be a great tool for assisting with my visual problem. They explained the reason for this in a way that was understandable to us and allowed us to make the decision upon their recommendation.
Care was excellent
Provider seemed a little rushed. My eyes were examined in approx. 8 minutes or less once dilated.
Love Dr Emiah
Follow up visit from cataract surgery. Doctor was very nice. She explained that my healing was going but needed to increase my drops for a longer time.
Dr Emiah and her resident were very efficient and took the time to answer my questions
New doctor was great. Excellent job!!
I would recommend family and friends if they need it

Very thorough, really listened to my concerns.
Dr Eaves was friendly and very thorough. Dr Emiah verified the exam and was excellent as usual.
My experience.was great I will never for got simply the best..
Was most impressed that Dr. Emiah did not appear to be rushing through the appointment, was patient in listening to all of my sometimes wordy concerns and answered all questions, adding additional explanations where needed.
Provder explained thoroughly about the care
I was very happy with the care I receivedI was very happy with the care I received
Basically I felt like every question I had in reference to the care I was provided by the past Emory dr was invalidated and minimized- and after waiting for what felt like a very long time, it felt rushed and when I tried to ask questions, they were met with pat answers and in the end I left there frustrated and concerned
Dr. Emicah has always been concerned about my care. If I have a problem outside her expertise, she will refer me to another doctor who can help within Emory.
Dr. EMIAH has been my Optometrist for several years, and I have a lot of confidence in her. She has always listened and taken time with me. However, the last 2 years that I have seen her, I have a sense that she has time restraints for seeing her patients, which I feel is a result of inexperienced, upper management.
The doctor read my history and was able to provide comparison notes as part of the process. This was very helpful during the discussion.
Dr did not do refraction. She took the technitions results only.
The best! He Explained options I had and answered all questions
Dr.Emiah could not have been nicer.Very kind and good at explaining everything. So helpful.
More time is needed to review prior visits before the appointment but overall pleasant experience.
Dr Emiah was excellent
Dr Emiah is wonderful
Staff on 3rd floor putting in more eye drops explained every step well. She Wiped machine before I placed my head and chin for test. She cleaned hands with hand sanitizer prior to me placing my chin and forehead on the machine. She was very professional and caring.Dr. Emiah is very caring. She explains the results and answer my additional concerns.
Dr. Rebecca Emiah explained my condition and f/u treatment with monitoring
The last time I saw her she recommended artificial tears 3 to 4 times a day. I was told by her that I have extremely dry eyes. She asked if I used the tears I said YES! Which was a LIE I told her. She told me that my eyes were much better since I have been using the drops which I have never in my life used. So either I never had dry eyes or they are still dry. The Dr said they looked better since I had been using the drops. She barely took the time to examine my eyes. If I had to guess she may have spent 3 mins at most looking in both eyes after instilling drops in each eye. I'm guessing the reason was because I waited so long and she didn't want me there any longer.
My first time meeting the provider. She was very nice.
I had such a wonderful experience! I'm hoping to have my regular eye exams with this doctor (Dr. Emiah) In the future.
Emiah is one of my favorites.
Dr. Emiah's decision to consider my request for the High Visual Field Test and her follow-up to the test results was excellent.
She was friendly, but very professional.
She was excellent. Was excellent in listening, I never felt rushed, I'm glad I found this doctor.
Doctor was great as she was on my three previous encounters with her.
Dr. Emiah heard my concerns about the rising cost of previous medications. She offered to try a new medication to see if it would be less expensive. In addition, she gave an alternative future possibility to discuss with my insurance. She explained everything thoroughly and answered all of my questions. I appreciated her suggestions. It always feels like a very concerned and caring provider.
Dr. Emiah is great. She is thorough, compassionate and listens.
The doctor was in a hurry for some reason.
The physician and nurse were both personable and attentive, but the speed with which I was moved through the examination process made the experience feel like an assembly line in a factory. I missed the personal interaction that is possible when the examination process is not so rushed.
Can't tell people to stand in long lines then long wait.
Very professional and curious.
Good
I appreciated Dr. Rebecca's kindness and professionalism.
Wonderful
She did seemed rushed. Was only with her for 20 minutes. Maybe over booked?
Dr. Emiah is great. I drive a long way to continue to see her.

Good experience
Dr. Amiah was great!
Very professional..
Both doctor and assistant were excellent.
Very good
Very caring
I had a very good experience with the appointment. Got my eye problem taken care of and very pleased with care I received.
Provider was in and out within a few minutes and did not do an exam for visual acuity which is the reason for my visit. Somehow she came up with a corrective lens prescription. I've since seen a private Optometrist who examined my visual acuity and gave me a correct prescription for new glasses.
Every visit seems rushed
Both doctor and nurse gave me excellent care
Very good experience
Doctors were attentive to me.
Very pleasant
The provider seemed rushed. Did not spend much time at all with me. I was expecting her to re-do the vision test done by the temporary fill in person but she did not. My previous optometrist always re-did the exam herself. I do not have confidence in my eye exam. In retrospect, I should have just asked her to repeat it, but she seemed in such a hurry and I did not ask.
Very nice and efficient
Absolutely-highest recommendations
Dr Emiah was great
Dr Emiah is professional and attentive
Th Staff b very concerned of ur Questions.
I have appreciated Dr. EMIAH, and felt great confidence in her skill, for several years. This day, she did seem a bit pressed for time.
Excellent doctor, thorough and patient.
Doctor was very helpful in checking my eyes. Answered all my questions and concerns
Provider was extremely attentive. Listen to my concerns and answered all my questions.
I felt Dr. Emiah was incredibly rushed and did not take the time to answer my questions in depth. Terminology was used which I did not know (duh, I am not a doctor) and when I pressed for more questions, I was not given complete answers. Also, no one reiterated the importance of protecting my eyes after dilation. I do not think I should have to rely on instructions from my first ever eye doctor appointment (some 10 years ago) for after care instructions.
Dr. Emiah was very helpful and took time to explain everything to me
Dr seemed very busy
Very good
