Dr. Smith is an Emory treasure. On this particular visit I was having a really tough time and she listened and validated so much. This visit felt more productive than a year of therapy, and I left with a plan I felt good about.

When asking about my concerns for my weight gain and trying to lose, she said "I'm not trained in that, you need to call your primary doctor." Which I understand it may not be what she handles, but just little concern or empathy was shown.

My only suggestion would be to walk through every step of the procedure with patients, because o thought I understood everything but there were some things I did not. For example, I didn't know there was epinephrine in the numbing shot and I panicked a bit when my heart started racing.

She changed my prescription which I wanted and told me what to expect but I didn't feel cared for. I was seen and treated. I got what I needed. No complaints there but that has not been the experience that I had with my other GYN or NP. Maybe more eye contact. More questions about my experience with my body ( menopause). Maybe just more curious about me and how I was feeling. How I want to feel. I would have liked more options about the medications available to me. The rapport or caring piece just didn't land for me. She actually made the decision and said wouldn't that be great. Even if she had walked me through her decision tree, I would have felt better. That came from not knowing me well. I'm tracking when I am at the doctor's or at least I want to.

Receiving a cold email stating your PAP results were abnormal but the advice is to repeat the test in three years seems bizarre to a layperson like me who's never had abnormal results before. I would appreciate a better sense of concern and caring, understanding that this sounds scary and like maybe we're just going to let cancer grow for three years before checking again.

I can't speak highly enough of my first visit with this provider. I've had tough experiences with other OB/GYNs and this provider is the best experience I've had in my entire adult life with an OB/GYN provider. I haven't ever done an online review before, but I really wanted to for Dr. Smith. I was so incredibly nervous going for this visit. She made me feel comfortable and walked me through the procedure. She actually had an eye contact conversation with me afterwards, was completely attentive and only focused on our discussion. She also clearly let me know what to anticipate next, and have even sent a followup to my primary by the time I got in my car.
She took a lot of time to explain the procedure, which included showing me pictures and spending a lot of time answering my many questions.
