Shahid S. Ahmed, MBBS, is a board-certified medical oncologist specializing in the treatment of genitourinary cancers. Dr. Ahmed is an attending physician at Winship Cancer Institute at Emory Midtown and an assistant professor in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine.
Prior to joining Emory in 2024, Dr. Ahmed was an assistant professor and the director of the genitourinary cancer program at the University of Vermont Medical Center where he was a physician member of the genitourinary and skin oncology care teams. While there, he was a core faculty member in the hematology/oncology fellowship program at the University of Vermont, teaching and mentoring fellows, residents and medical students.
Dr. Ahmed received his medical degree from Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana where he served as chief resident. He completed his fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at Indiana University serving as chief fellow in his final year of training.

Awards
Dr. Ahmed is the recipient of the George and Sarah Jane Fisher Young Investigator Award. The George and Sarah Jane Fisher Young Investigator Award honors oncology fellows and faculty members who have made significant contributions to clinical or basic science research.
Dr. Ahmed is the recipient of a NNECOS grant to study the bladder microbiome and its role in carcinogenesis. In 2018, he was selected to attend and nominated for best project at the AACR/ASCO Methods in Clinical Research Workshop in Vail, Colorado.
