I liked having Dr. Factor involved in the patient's care because he is legendary in the field. I like the way that he read information sent to him before the meeting and took copious notes. This time, however, we had a Fellow who only knew the patient by the clinical notes. I appreciate that you're an educational institution, but much of the meeting was spent retreading old ground. The patient has advanced Parkinson's disease, and is not following conventional no norms in the disease's progression. I liked how the care team did not judge us as crazy for stepping outside of standard Parkinson's treatments. I was, however, feeling dejected that we could not nuance the drugs a little better.The patient has two neurologists, and his other neurologist just made a minor change in his medications, and so this was probably not the best time for a visit. The patient is getting old, and the trip to Emory will soon not be in his best interest for his health, so Dr. Factor probably made a good decision in leaving us to determine when the next appointment will be. Maybe it is because the decision was obvious, but It disappointingly felt like the decision had been a foregone conclusion.On a bright note, the doctor did chat with the patient and cheer his spirits. That made him feel like the trip to Atlanta was worth the time.
I drive 2.5 hours each way to see Dr. Factor. I am 81 yrs old and the drive is difficult, but Dr. Factor is worth it.

Dr. Factor came to the appointment prepared to discuss the questions that I had raised in a portal post. I like how he takes notes of what we talk about, and his clinical notes accurately and pertinently reflect what we spoke about and if anything, we're generous and forgiving of errors on the client's part. When we talked to Dr. Factor, we could trust that he is relying on the best up-to-date information available.
I know Dr Factor is one of the best in the world at what he does and I have always enjoyed a good rapport with him. I feel like we did not communicate well on this project. I feel like the lack of support has made the new therapy more difficult for me to learn than for many others who had more timely feedback. I'm not sure if I did something to lose his confidence, but I sense that is a possibility.

Dr. Factor is probably as good a neurologist as one can find. His knowledge is trusted The patient, unfortunately, is at a stage where therapies are not established, and he doesn't respond predictably. So, while it was frustrating that the doctor didn't have solutions, it is acknowledged that nobody who knows whereof they speak does, either.
