About

Dr. Attia earned his Medical Degree and PhD in Cardiothoracic Surgery from Cairo University in Egypt.  In 2009, he joined Cleveland Clinic’s Heart & Vascular Institute in Ohio where he served as a Clinical Fellow of Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery Resident, and, most recently, as the Chief Resident of Cardiothoracic Surgery.  There he had focused training on thoracic transplantation, mechanical circulatory support and complex aortic surgery. His research interests include extracorporeal perfusion, coronary arterial revascularization, long-term outcomes and valve hemodynamic performance after bioprosthetic valve replacement. He has presented his work at regional, national, and international conferences including the annual meetings of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association and the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS). He also has received many awards for teaching and for his clinical dedication.
