Before surgery, I looked at surgery as the ultimate goal. Then I realized afterward that it was just the catalyst that sparked a series of changes in the way I eat and set me on a path to a healthier lifestyle.

The Emory Bariatric Research Program gives me valuable, tangible evidence of all the things that have changed throughout the last five years. Bariatric surgery is not an easy way out of obesity. To be successful, there’s a lot of hard work involved. A lot of my motivation is based on where I used to be and knowing I don’t want to go back there again.
